Scramble To Protect Your Nest Of Babies In Wildlings
Wildlings ($0.99) by Metamoki, Inc. is a fun little arcade game where you must protect your babies from the strange creatures trying to carry them away.
On each of the 45+ levels, there is a nest with three baby "wildlings" in the middle background which you need to protect from creeps, the bad guys. These creeps can be anything from angry squirrel-type creatures to giant spiders or quick little bees. Whatever they are, they all need to be stopped.
In the foreground, there are one or two wildlings who you will use to defend the babies. Pressing on a creep will order a defender to attack it while pressing on the ground orders that wildling to that location (unless it’s already attacking in which case it can only be told to either attack its current target or a new creep).
Smaller creeps take one hit to kill; larger creeps take several hits. Creeps will never attack wildlings, they only go for the babies so whenever you come across a giant boar or spider, make sure to tap it repeatedly to kill it off as soon as possible.
Tapping repeatedly on the ground or any distant mob also has the effect of making your defenders run faster.
The creeps can accumulate quickly so as you progress through the levels, you unlock extra abilities that allow you to bring a chaotic situation back under control. These abilities include a sandstorm which stuns all creeps and prevents them from moving for a short time as well as cherry bombs which do a huge amount of damage to multiple mobs.
Be selective about when you use those abilities, though, as they are powered by “suns” which you need to unlock the fourth island and your ultimate escape. Suns drop both randomly and whenever you kill a creep. Just give them a tap to collect them. You need 3,000 to unlock the last island!
The cartoon graphics and cheery music give a fun feel to the game. The constant action and extra abilities make defending your baby wildlings across the beach, woods and ice very entertaining.
