AirServer is a $7.99 Mac app that has the ability to turn your computer into an AirPlay receiver. Once installed, users can stream images, video and audio to a Mac computer via AirPlay. Now, the application has received an update, and is fully compatible with both OS X Lion and iOS 5 (which Apple is expected to release later today).
In the past, AirServer hasn't worked all that well for me. Often, when attempting to stream content from an iOS device to my Mac, a connection simply hasn't been made, while at other times the process has worked flawlessly.
Fortunately, this issue has been corrected in the latest version (3.0) of the software. I've just taken the new version of AirServer for a spin, and was able to stream images, video and audio from my iPad to the MacBook I'm writing this article on without any issues whatsoever. The process is quick, and really does work perfectly.
As MacStories notes, besides these important enhancements, the latest version of AirServer is also compatible with both OS X Lion and iOS 5, which is great news.
If you're interested in taking a closer look at AirServer, head over to its official website and purchase the software now. As mentioned, it's currently available for $7.99. Furthermore, if you're interested in turning your iOS device into an AirPlay receiver, AirServer has an app for that, too. Take a look at our article for more information.
