BBC iPlayer (Global) For iPad Updated - Now Supports AirPlay Streaming

October 20, 2011
The BBC iPlayer global iPad app has recently received an update, which adds the ability to stream content played within the application to an Apple TV, via AirPlay! This is great news for users of the service, as it means BBC shows like Doctor Who and Top Gear can now be enjoyed on TV screens internationally. Apple fans in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, The Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland, along with Finland, Sweden and Denmark can subscribe to the BBC's iPlayer service and view shows from within the app. BBC iPlayer is also available in the UK, too - but AirPlay streaming hasn't yet been added to the UK app. Provided you're using the global BBC iPlayer app, and have an Apple TV and iOS 5 installed on your iPad, you should be good to go. The BBC iPlayer iPad app is free to download in the App Store, though as mentioned, the service does require a subscription. [via The Next Web]
