Take Care In Navigating An Obstacle Course In The Heavens With BotBall
BotBall (Free) by Ariadna LLC is an arcade game that has you rolling a metallic ball around on narrow platforms, while trying to avoid obstacles with the simple objective of getting from start to finish.
Controls are through tilting your iDevice, but you have to toggle which tilt direction is active. You start off with being able to move left or right.
After a couple of levels, you will occasionally come across a piece of the platform that moves in or out of the screen. Tap the bottom left toggle button and you’ll be able to move in that direction while being safe from falling off the sides to the left or right.
When you come across an electricity barrier, a gap in the path or a section of platform that drops away from under you, you’ll have to jump. Pressing the bottom right button will allow you to do so, holding it will make you jump higher.
Falling off the platforms or running through electricity will cost one life. Falling will also send you back to the beginning or the last checkpoint, which can cause you to lose valuable time since you’re playing with a timer.
The ball doesn’t behave quite as well as it should. It would sometimes be affected by what a nearby platform was doing, even though it was no longer on it. For the most part, however, controls are smooth and reliable. Having to suddenly sit up to tilt your iDevice properly after toggling the tilt direction can be a little annoying, but not a deal breaker.
BotBall is fun and challenging. It has a lot to offer, especially for a free app with no apparent downsides such as ads. It’s likely to have you coming back for more after you try it.
