Seven Spells (Free) by P&C Software LLC is a puzzle game displaying a 3x3 grid of squares that can be lit up or darkened by touch. The aim is to create one of seven shapes within a time limit.

When a square is touched, that square along with all adjacent squares, will toggle between light and dark. Diagonal squares are unaffected. In this way, you can effectively move pieces around the grid or remove them altogether.

The game is deceptively challenging to play. I found myself trying a ton of different combinations before eventually finding the first solution somewhat randomly.

The best approach seems to be to look at the final shape and imagine what would happen to the squares if you touched one of them. Then look for one of those alternate shapes which will lead to the final solution.

A major drawback to this game is that once you’ve progressed to higher levels, but fail to find the solution, you’ll be sent straight back to the beginning. Your progress is never saved.

Seven Spells is a good bit of fun while it lasts, but you may find yourself frustrated when your progress is reset. There are also only seven puzzles to solve.

On the other hand it is free so you may as well give it a go.
