Supermono's Forever Drive Is Full Of Endless Possibilities, And It's A Free Ride

October 12, 2011
Another arcade racer makes it into the App Store, and this one is developed by Supermono Studios, the creators of MiniSquadron and EpicWin. Something of a mix of F-Zero, Tron, and other futuristic-themed titles, Forever Drive has the excitement you've come to love from arcade racing games with a little bit extra to entice your participation. At first glance, Forever Drive's car, paint job, and license plate selection screen could seem almost too bland for the gamer hoping for something unique. Though attention grabbing, the luminescent tracks with tight corners and futuristic scenery aren't this game's big feature. Instead, Forever Drive's attractiveness is created by taking the road less traveled. In most racing simulation games, the challenge is to complete the courses faster than your opponents within the number of designated laps. Forever Drive steps away from those rules in favor of an endless driving concept. As long as you can reach the checkpoints in the allotted time, the race is never over. Such an objective requires the same efficient and aggressive driving as the former, however, the payoff can be much larger. Forever Drive isn't about racing around a loop until the end of time. To make the tracks appear to go on forever but keep things interesting, one course's finish time is the next's starting line. To complete courses, it all comes down to skill and the decision of efficiency versus gain. Basically, weaving amongst opponents on the shortest route to the finish line will be a success, however, it won't accumulate the most points. You'll need to decide when it's best to stay on course and when you can afford to make a swerve for more points, power-ups, and so on. Of course, Forever Drive is in fact about driving forever. Although, there is one more feature to highlight, and it deals with the planning before ever getting behind the wheel. If you get tired of the included courses and have a creative mind, freshen things up by heading to the track builder. All it takes is some dragging, e.g., drawing, to create and edit a new track, complete with scenery, hills, dips, and sharp curves. Forever Drive features: • 20 unlockable car models amongst five car styles • 52 unlockable paint jobs • 27 unlockable license plates • Four control schemes: arcade, digital pad, analog pad, and tilt Forever Drive is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, 32GB and 64GB third generation iPod touch, fourth generation iPod touch and newer running iOS 3.0 or later, and available in the App Store as a free download. Game Center features require iOS 4.1 or later. [gallery link="file" columns="4"]
