Elmer And Wilbur Learn What May Be Strange To One May Not Be Strange To Another In The Story Of Elmer And Rose
December 1, 2011
Oceanhouse Media is proud to have joined up with so many different publishers in order to offer top selling children's books in a great interactive eBook format, what they dub an "omBook." Through the partnership with Andersen Press, Oceanhouse is happy to announce their third Elmer the Patchwork Elephant series omBook, Elmer and Rose.
Written by British author David McKee, the Elmer the Patchwork Elephant series deals with the general misunderstandings and misjudgments surrounding diversity, helping children feel comfortable about themselves and those around them whether different or not. In the story of Elmer and Rose, Elmer and Wilbur are tasked with safely guiding Rose, a pink elephant, back to her own herd. Despite the different appearances and behaviors of the three elephants, they all have a completely enjoyable time together on their journey.
The app has three ways to experience the story: "Read it Myself" allows reading and viewing the material in the same manner that traditional books would offer, "Read to Me" highlights each word as it is professionally narrated, and "Auto Play" adds narration but also automatically turns the page when it is completed. This is a nice feature for very young children, or to just make the experience a little more like a movie.
Some additional features to help promote reading and provide even more enjoyment include words that are spoken and zoom up when pictures are touched, custom background audio for each scene, plus fun animations and sounds to help pages come alive. A wonderful combination of capabilities to complement the passionate artwork of David McKee.
Elmer and Rose is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 3.0 or later, and available in the App Store at the introductory price of $1.99.
