iPawn - Play Board Games On Your iPad Using Real Pieces

November 7, 2011
Royal Jumbo's iPawn board game pieces are impressive. Once purchased and unpackaged, the pieces can be used in board games like Snakes and Ladders, Game of Goose and Air Hockey, and actually interact with an iPad's touch screen. As you can see in the below video, the pieces and their respective apps combine to create a board game experience like no other, allowing users to play through four games (Fishing Game, Game of Goose, Snakes and Ladders and Air Hockey) on an iPad, using physical pieces that interact with the iPad's screen. The iPawn pieces don't use metallic pads, and instead are made of a material that conducts the energy from users' fingers to the tablet's touch screen. Importantly, this means that your iPad will only recognize the iPawn pieces when you're touching them. If you often play board games with your friends, family or children, Royal Jumbo's iPawn looks to be an essential purchase. Later this month, it should be available for around $16. We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, take a look at the below video of iPawn board game pieces in action, and post your thoughts in the comments.
