Avoid Pillars And Pits As You Jump And Glide Across The Cemetery In Ghostie
Ghostie (Free) by Pinc Studios is an arcade game that has a square ghost-head gliding through a cemetery, trying to get to the other side. It’s very atmospheric thanks to its ghostly yet energetic music.
You’ll face obstacles as you move along mostly in the form of orange pillars, but also occasionally in the form of a large pit. You’ll need to jump over these by tapping the screen.
You’ll also get pillars with a pattern that looks like something off of a spotted cow. Whereas touching the orange pillars in any way will make you go poof, the spotted ones (when jumped on) will make you jump even further.
Once you die in a level you’ll go back to the beginning unless you’ve passed a checkpoint, marked by a rising tombstone when you pass it for the first time.
The fewer the attempts you need to complete a level, the higher your star rating and the more tokens you get. Tokens are used to make in-game store purchases such as potions (which will send you to the next checkpoint) or additional masks.
However, the items require obscene numbers of tokens and you’ll have to either play a lot to get anything or make in-app purchases of those tokens.
Initially the game is free to download, but that gets you only one level. You can unlock 15 extra levels and the ability to actually use potions by making an upgrade to the full game for $0.99.
Ghostie is very engaging and has wonderful polish. Download the free version now if it sounds like it would be as much fun to you as it was me.
