Melt The Ice And Crank Up Your Speed In Ice Melt
Ice Melt (Free) by Aeralas is an arcade game with a small penguin that loves to melt ice and bounce around. You'll be moving downward at break neck speeds among a plethora of obstacles while trying to collect as many points as possible.
The first obstacle you'll have to deal with is the ice, which blocks your path. To get it out of the way, hold a finger over it and it will quickly melt. There are boulders you'll need to push aside and whirlpools of water that will try to trap you as you go.
You’ll also come across round objects called "bouncers" that will quickly accelerate you when you bounce off of them.
Occasionally, you’ll come across a small fire that will heat up your penguin and allow him to crash through ice blocks without having to melt them first. This allows you to move down even more quickly.
To obtain the highest score possible, you'll need to collect triangular golden prisms. There are also silver prisms and diamonds that are both worth even more.
The penguin moves left and right by tilting your iPhone from side to side, but you can also control his speed by tilt.
When your iPhone is upright, he will be traveling as fast as possible and bouncing the highest. However, when your iPhone is horizontal, he'll be moving at his slowest.
In higher levels, you will come across translucent bars made up of black and red or black and yellow stripes. Moving through them will give you a huge boost in speed and allow you to collect gems or escape traps.
The graphics are quite appalling. The splashes of colors in the background tend to clash with those in the foreground, which create an unclean and garish look.
Ice Melt is certainly a fast paced action arcade game, but it leaves much to be desired. I would advise avoiding it, but since it's free, you may as well take a look. You might find something in it you like.
