Shoot And Ram Enemy Ships To Keep Them From Passing You In Space Commander
Space Commander (Free) by QuartSoft is a simple space shooting arcade game that has you shooting down enemies who are flying in from the top of the screen. You can shoot them down, but may also have to resort to other methods.
Your ship can only move left and right and does so by tilting. The movement is very stable and easy to control since the ship always gravitates towards the center position when you’re not tilting your iPhone.
Tapping the screen will fire the ship's weapons, which can be upgraded by collecting power-ups. You can also increase your ship’s armor to take less damage.
If a ship is about to pass you and there isn’t enough time to destroy it, you can place your ship underneath it and force a collision to occur.
Such collisions cause enemy ships to spin and rebound in the direction they just came from. Not only will doing this put you in danger of taking enemy fire, but the collision itself will also do damage.
On the right is a bar showing how many hit points you have left. You can take quite a few hits before being destroyed. Unfortunately, however, the rate of incoming enemy ships is very low. They are slow moving and sometimes take forever to arrive.
This makes for a rather boring game, which is very unfortunate for an app that is otherwise well made and fun to play.
