Think Ahead by CleverMedia (Free) by CleverMedia, Inc. is a puzzle game that has positive and negative numbers laid out on an 8x8 grid. You’ve got to pick out the best number you can as you take turns playing against your iDevice.
The numbers are blue when positive and orange when negative.
There is a white bar that alternately highlights columns and rows. When the bar is horizontal, highlighting a row, it’s your turn. You’ve got to tap the number of the highest value available in that row.
When the bar is vertical, the iDevice will take its turn and also select the highest number available.
Any number selected, will add to (or take away from) your overall score. The one with the highest score when there are no numbers left will, obviously, be the victor.
A key feature, which is lacking, is multiplayer. There might be more replay value here if you were able to compete with friends.
I’m not sure how much actual “thinking ahead” is involved here. You’re not allowed to choose which row is highlighted, nor are you able to constrain your opponent in any way. So, there’s really not much strategy or thinking involved. You just choose the best of what’s available to you.
The upside is the game is free and interesting enough to pick up and play around with from time to time.
