Turkey Eve: Everything We Didn't Cover

November 24, 2011
There are literally hundreds of new and updated apps joining the App Store on a regular basis. Unfortunately, it isn't always possible to cover all of these apps on a timely basis. Therefore, beginning this week, AppAdvice will publish this column, which we're calling, "Everything We Didn't Cover," offering the latest iOS news and app information. Enjoy! Late News Samsung Makes Fun Of Apple Customers That Stand In Line For New iDevices Samsung released a new ad that essentially makes fun of anyone that has ever stood in line for a new Apple product. While the ad itself is moderately funny, it does suggest a little Apple envy on Samsung's part. After all, if its own customers were standing in line for Samsung products, would an ad like this ever see the light of day? Of course not. Take a look:

New and Updated Apps Box Cat, $1.99, Universal Here’s a new retro arcade smasher game exclusively for iOS. The object: smash into cars and create total mayhem! Spark, $.99, iPhone/iPod touch Spark is a new utility app that runs in the background and tracks your battery level. If your iPhone battery drops below a certain level, Spark will automatically send emails with your current location to the contacts you have configured. The idea is that even if your iPhone dies, someone will still know where you are. NFL Pro 2012, Free, iPhone/iPod touch With just six weeks to go in the NFL regular season, Gameloft has unveiled NFL Pro 2012, a free game for the iPhone/iPod touch. But, be warned: the game requires buying some in-app extras to experience the entire game. Voxer Walkie-Talkie PTT, Free, iPhone/iPod touch Voxer is a free app that turns any iPhone into a Walkie Talkie. And, according to TechCrunch, the app has gone viral on both iOS and Android.
The app has gone from #40 to #6 within the past week in the social networking category of the United States App Store, following its rise earlier this year in random other countries like Brazil and Saudi Arabia. It’s now a trend among many Twitter users, too. (Yeah, the social networking category isn’t especially big once you get past the leading web services, but this much growth for this type of app is unusual.)
Attention developers: If you would like your app to be considered here, please let me know by sending a tweet @bryanmwolfe.
