Jailbreak Only: How To Fix iBooks After Jailbreaking Under iOS 5.0.1

December 29, 2011
If you've jailbroken your iOS device under iOS 5.0.1 using the recently released untethered solution, iBooks will crash every time to try to launch it. Fortunately, there are a number of ways Apple fans can correct this issue, as originally reported by iDownloadBlog. The first method is the simplest, though we're not sure how much success jailbreakers have had with it. Simply head over to the Cydia application and add the following repository: repo.insanelyi.com. Following this, download and install a package called "iBooks2Fix," and the issue should be corrected. However, if this doesn't work, there is an alternative method - though @iH8Sn0w warns jailbreakers that this might break iTunes syncing. In short, proceed with caution (and don't proceed at all if you don't use iBooks on your iOS device). The steps are as follows:

First, download this file.

Next, using SSH or iPhone Explorer, move the application to "/var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall" on your iOS device.

Following this, reboot your iOS device.

This should do the trick, though do remember that jailbreakers are advised to proceed with caution until more information on the above methods is available. Let me know in the comments whether either method works for you.
