Jailbreak Only: NewTabSearch - Opens A New Page When Searching In Safari

December 6, 2011
A new jailbreak tweak called "NewTabSearch," once installed, opens a new page in Safari for iOS when users enter a search term in the application's dedicated search-box. In Apple's iOS, when users search using the search-box (which appears in the top-right corner of the Safari app), the current webpage is replaced with the search. However, this can be corrected: once NewTabSearch has been installed, searching from within this search-box opens the results on a new page in Safari, meaning the webpage you were originally viewing has been preserved. It's a simple tweak, and undoubtedly a feature Apple should incorporate into the iOS. Fortunately, until this happens, jailbreak fans can enjoy the feature via the free NewTabSearch package.
