Jailbreak Only: TinyUmbrella Updated - Gets Support For iOS 5.1 Beta

TinyUmbrella has received an update that adds support for the recently released beta version of iOS 5.1. Though we would not recommend jailbreak fans updating to this version of the iOS (as there's currently no known means of downgrading, and no untethered jailbreak solution is available for iOS 5 or above), if you do decide to take iOS 5.1 beta for a spin on your iOS device, be sure to save your SHSH blobs first.
Because Apple doesn't allow downgrading (definition: restoring your iOS device to an earlier version of the operating system, rather than a newer version), it's important to keep one's SHSH blobs on file. These SHSH blobs, which can be saved using TinyUmbrella, can be used to evade Apple and downgrade an iOS device's firmware.
Though, as we have mentioned, no untethered jailbreak solution is available for iOS 5 or above (and no jailbreak solution whatsoever is available for the iPhone 4S), we would nevertheless recommend Apple fans updating to iOS 5.1 beta to save their iOS device's SHSH blobs. Because, as the team notes over on the TinyUmbrella website, "you never know when they may come in handy."
You can download the latest version of TinyUmbrella from the software's official website.
