Jailbreak Only: vWallpaper 2 - Live Wallpapers Get iOS 5 Compatibility

December 30, 2011
The vWallpaper jailbreak tweak, which allows Apple fans to set a live wallpaper on their iPhone, has recently received an update and is now compatible with iOS 5. Though Apple hasn't added live wallpapers to its mobile operating system, the jailbreak community has indeed made it possible to display active, moving wallpapers on an iPhone handset, and for a while the go-to package when it comes to live wallpapers has been vWallpaper. Now, the popular jailbreak tweak has received an update, and is compatible with Apple's iOS 5 mobile operating system. The package ("vWallpaper 2") is currently in its beta stage of development, but is available to download via Cydia from the following repository: http://deb.danstaface.net. A major issue with previous versions of the tweak, as Redmond Pie notes, has been battery life consumption: because of the nature of the tweak, users have often found that enabling live wallpapers on their iPhone has resulted in dramatically decreased battery life. Regardless, if you're looking to play around with live wallpapers on your jailbroken iOS 5 device, take a look at vWallpaper 2 in Cydia now.
