Kieffer Brothers' Latest Puzzler, Blockwick, Is Available As A Free Universal Download In The App Store Now
December 15, 2011
Kieffer Brothers, creators of Aqueduct and Orba, have released another beautifully crafted puzzle game. Sporting similarly colorful and bubbly graphics as the aforementioned titles, Blockwick features over 50 levels for free, plus dozens more via in-app purchase, and a wide range of difficulty to challenge even the top problem solvers.
Admittedly, Blockwick looks and feels a lot like Aqueduct but the two are different types of puzzlers. Blockwick's sliding puzzle style of gameplay allows a bit more creativity to complete your objective. Basically, the solution isn't always going to be identical compared to other attempts and players.
What is the objective? Connect all of the same shape and color blocks to unlock the next level. Move the glossy blocks, including the black obstacle blocks, around the screen with a dragging motion to create paths, therefore, allowing the same shape and colored blocks to make contact with one another. In addition, a single silver token is hidden in each level. Retrieve them all to earn achievements.
The first chapter keeps things simpler by only using a single colored block, ignoring the obstacle blocks, configuration, a blue square. Later sections and chapters will contain a larger variation of blocks, such as green and yellow pellets. Further progression into a chapter will introduce even more variables than simply shape and color. For example, some blocks are fastened down, recognizable by the shiny bolts in the corners, and dimly lit blocks cannot be moved until a regular colored block makes physical contact.
Blockwick features:
• Four sections - The first is available immediately and others via in-app purchase
- Over 200 levels total - 60 included for free
- Increasingly difficult from section to section and level to level
• Retina graphics and custom soundtrack
• 24 Game Center achievements
• Universal: Works on any iDevice
Blockwick is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and IPod touch running iOS 3.1.3 or later, and available in the App Store as a free download.
