"God of Blades" Melds "Infinity Blade" Influence With Side-Scrolling Play
January 30, 2012
Ever wish Infinity Blade was a proper side-scrolling platform game, where you weren't just tapping your way from cutscene to cutscene and boss fight to boss fight?
Me, too.
Luckily, so have the folks at Texas-based White Whale Games. With their upcoming title God of Blades, the small indie developer has created an intriguing mashup of iOS genres. Naturally, most of the game's presentation is influenced by the aforesaid Infinity Blade, but there seem to be other ideas at work, including some endless runner-style zip and a throwback vibe not unlike (yet extremely unlike) that of the wondrous Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP. Check out the trailer to see what we mean:
God of Blades is classified as an action RPG and features physics-driven swordplay, procedurally-generateed enemies, and a constantly-evolving protagonist. The game should be available sometime in the next few months, and you'd better believe we'll review it when it is.
