Google Removes "Siri For Android" From The Android Marketplace

January 1, 2012
Google has recently removed "Siri for Android" from the Android Marketplace. A couple of days ago, we told you about a number of Android applications that claimed (or appeared) to be official versions of Apple's voice recognition service, Siri. Among them was Siri for Android, which, as its name suggests, masqueraded as an Android version of the popular iPhone 4S-exclusive feature. Besides using the name, the application also thieved the Siri icon from Apple. However, we are pleased to report that Google has now stepped in, and has removed Siri for Android from the Android Marketplace. The application's Android Marketplace URL is indeed invalid. Though this fake Siri app is no more, Speerit (another application that supports Korean only) is still available. It's likely that Google will remove this application too in the near future.
