In December, Apple's iPhone 4S Continued To Be The Best-Selling Handset

A new report from Canaccord Genuity analyst Mike Walkley claims that Apple's iPhone 4S was the best-selling handset at AT&T, Verizon and Sprint during the month of December.
Though the Android-powered Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S II also saw extremely strong sales, the fifth-generation iPhone handset led the way at all three U.S. carriers. The Galaxy Nexus took second place with Verizon Wireless, while the Galaxy S II claimed the same spot with both AT&T and Sprint.

“Our December checks indicated iPhone sales remained strong in the U.S., and we forecast total iPhone sales of over 12M units in the U.S. market for the December quarter,” Walkley wrote in a research note on Friday. “Further, our checks indicated strong global share gains with iPhone 4S launching in new markets including Brazil and Russia during December and set to launch in China and other markets in January. In addition, our checks indicated iPad 2 remains the top-selling global tablet with Amazon’s Kindle Fire the closest competitor due to its materially lower price.”It's clear that, while Android OS might be number one in terms of smart phone operating system market share (due to the large number of handsets running the OS), in terms of handset sales, Apple's iPhone 4S is ahead of the competition.
