Morgan Stanley Analyst Makes Predictions Regarding iPhone 5

January 14, 2012
In a note to clients that was published yesterday, Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty has made a series of predictions regarding Apple's sixth-generation iPhone handset. Huberty notes that she expects Apple's iPhone 5 to feature a new design and a quad-core processor, corroborating with a series of other reports that have recently hit the Web. Because Apple's iPhone 4S maintained the design Apple debuted with the iPhone 4, it would be logical to assume that the next handset will look markedly different. Though it's pure speculation to claim that we'll see a new design launch with the iPhone 5, Boy Genius Report claimed to have received insider knowledge of the handset (towards the end of last year), announcing that it would indeed feature a new design. Furthermore, evidence in Apple's iOS betas appears to point to future iOS device processors: a few weeks ago, we told you how code in the yet-to-be-released iOS 5.1 referenced Apple's A5 processor, but also an unknown quad-core processor. This is expected to be the Apple A6 processor Apple will likely debut in the iPad 3. Katy Huberty's predictions are logical but as always, we're not going to know much about the iPhone 5 until either someone leaves a prototype in a bar, or Apple CEO Tim Cook unveils it on-stage at a future Apple event. The expected launch date (fall, this year) means we have around eight months of rumors to wade through until the truth of the matter is unveiled. As always, we'll keep you posted.
