Final Run Screeches Into The App Store

Final Run Screeches Into The App Store

February 27, 2012
Last week I mentioned that zombie games are just about everywhere right now. Well today, I would like to introduce you to yet another zombie filled title, Final Run ($3.99). Final Run is a new "story driven vehicle action game" from Dutch developers Rotor Games. After a staggering 15 months work, their new title has finally burst onto the App Store. The team behind Final Run has provided quite an epic sounding back story:
A catastrophic global epidemic has emerged, killing millions and infecting wide swathes of the populated world. Thanks to the speed of modern communications, the spread of the infection was contained. Now, for the most part, life goes on. Bordering the containment area exists a no-man's-land known as "The Fringe". In this grey zone, only criminals and the insane dare to venture. Kurt and Lee have just succesfully blown up the headquarters of their former leader, after stealing important research. They are now on the run, desperately trying to escape to the civilised world...
Final Run aims to combine elements of driving action, vehicular combat, and exploration. The game achieves this quite admirably. Final Run features six unique cars and weapons, 19 levels set across the large game world and quite an interesting story. Final Run is a truly universal app, with support for all currently available iOS models, even the iPhone 3GS. I'm not entirely sure how well the game would fare on an older device like a 3GS, though its nice that it is included. Rotor Games have provided a short gameplay trailer, seen below, in case you are unsure if you are willing to commit the $3.99 to this indie title. Do you think the zombie genre should be dead and buried or do you think there is plenty of life left in the old rotting corpse yet?
