FutureTap's Where To? App Supports Even More Navigation Apps, Plus Adds Expanded Content
February 7, 2012
It has been a few months since the last major Where To? app update, which introduced user ratings and reviews. Today's update adds more locations, more and better photos, videos, greater third-party turn-by-turn navigation app support, and a few tweaks to some other features.
Where To? is an expansive points of interest database app that includes more than 700 customizable categories and 2,400 brands. The app does have a lot of great content, although, FutureTap has been kind enough to add plenty more. For example, you can now check out the beautiful national or state parks of Canada, Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
This latest version isn't only about additional places but also expanded features. Along with the previous brief descriptions, links to Wikipedia entries, links to official websites, and user reviews, Where To? v4.1 adds more photos, higher quality full screen photos with zoom capability, and even more reviews displayed for many locations.
While Where To? helps you discover exciting places, getting to those locations is done using a third-party GPS navigation app. Previously, Where To? could send an address to the built-in Apple Maps, MotionX GPS Drive, TomTom, and Navigon MobileNavigator apps. However, v4.1 more than doubles the options with support for Waze, Sygic, Navfree and Navmii, and Navigon Urban Germany.
Further changes to Where To? include the ability to view homepages via the built-in web browser in landscape orientation, bug fixes, and the minimum requirement raised from iOS 3.1 to iOS 4.0 in order to provide quicker and more efficient updates in the future.
Where To? is designed for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or later, and available in the App Store for $2.99. Turn-by-turn navigation apps like TomTom and Navigon require an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, or 3G-equipped iPad.
