WSJ Reports Apple To Announce And Launch iPad 3 Next Month

February 9, 2012
The Wall Street Journal's AllThingsD is reporting that, while we're not going to see any special Apple events this month, next month will bear the big one. Yep, the iPad 3 is expected to be announced sometime in early(ish) March, with units hitting shelves only a week or two later. Aside from a few external tweaks, the next iPad is said to share a strong resemblance to the current iPad 2, with reworked internals and, of course, updated specs. These will most likely include:
  • 2048x1536 Retina display
  • quad-core A6 CPU
  • faster GPU
  • improved cameras for "FaceTime HD"
  • larger battery (for same 10-12 hour runtime)
  • dual mode GSM/CDMA
  • Siri
  • iOS 5.1
Will this be enough for you to upgrade? Duh. Will this be enough for me to call in sick and line up outside my local Best Buy for five hours on launch day? Three years in a row, baby! [Image: allthingsd.com]
