Apple To Hold "Strange" Event In February, Launch iPad 3 In March?

February 2, 2012
The Japanese blog Macotakara - not always a credible source, we should note - has made a number of claims regarding the launch of the iPad 3. First, we heard that the third-generation tablet would launch in February, with its own dedicated media event (as one might expect). However, the website is now claiming that this event will instead be a "strange" event, and that Apple's iPad 3 will be announced in March, the month after. This is indeed curious and rather unlikely. Besides the fact that it's unlike Apple to hold two media events in quick succession of one another, information on this "strange" event appears to be in short supply. Apple Insider contacted the author of the article, who simply noted that Apple would not announce a new product at its "strange" event in February. Previous iPad launches have been around February or March, leading us to assume that we'll see the new tablet in one month or the other. The iPad 3, we are told, will feature a quad-core "A6" processor and support for LTE. Both features are also expected to launch with the next-generation iPhone, which - according to a recent report - might be this summer. It could be that this "strange" event deals with some industry-related topic, much like Apple's iBooks-related event which took place earlier this month. However, as usual, we're not going to know anything for certain until the company announces it. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
