Beat The Beast HD Offers 360-Degree Twist On Tower Defense Gameplay
March 31, 2012
Beat The Beast HD is yet another TD game. (That's tower defense game in near-layman terms.) As indicated in the title, the enemies against which you will be doing a great deal of defending in the game are beastly creatures. What's not indicated in the title, though, is the arrangement of the physical features of the area surrounding your kingdom, which, for lack of a better comparison, looks like a multilayered cake.
So to speak, the beasts are out to eat your cake. Naturally, you wouldn't want others to eat it, because come on, we're talking about cake here! Okay, Beat The Beast HD is related to cake in only the slightest degree. But as I've mentioned, the kingdom in the game appears to be multilayered, at the top and center of which are the main gates. Leading to the gates is a spiral path readily accessible to the approaching beasts. Your job is to defend the gates by using protective towers, magic powers, and tactical skills. You can preview the gameplay in the video below.

Beat The Beast HD allows a 360° degree view of the kingdom, so you can rotate the view to where you want to operate your defenses. This type of view is especially suited for the formation of the environments on screen. The developer claims that the game's 3D environments are "tested and ready" for the new iPad, but apparently that just means that it works on the new iPad and not that it fully supports the new iPad's Retina display.
Beat The Beast HD for iPad is now available in the App Store for $0.99. Is this new TD game going to be a piece of cake?
