Factyle Announces That Smartr Is At The End Of Its Days
March 6, 2012
Smartr, the app made for easily viewing and sharing news, is being discontinued later this month. After about one and a half years in the App Store, Factyle is going to cease further development and operation of their combination news and social-networking app and service.
Even though the iPhone and iPad apps still remain in the App Store at this point and have four star ratings, an email message received Monday, March 5, contained the news that the company will be discontinuing the Smartr service in a little more than a week to focus on other projects.
Unfortunately, the Smartr team is moving on to new things and is unable to support its continued development. With a heavy heart, we will be pulling the plug on the service on the 15th of March @ 1pm EST.It is possible Factyle could be working on apps yet unreleased, however, they may also be concentrating resources on their other current app and service, Cinemagram and http://cinemagr.am. Sure, there are other offerings in the App Store that perform similar functionality as Smartr, but it's still regrettable to hear about an enjoyed app going away. Nevertheless, it is happening and time for users to move onto an alternate choice.
