Famed Jailbreak Hacker Arrested For Marijuana Possession While Travelling To SXSW

March 15, 2012
George "geohot" Hotz - the famed hacker responsible for unlocking the first-generation iPhone - was recently arrested for cannabis possession while en route to SXSW. According to Above The Law, Hotz failed to pass through a checkpoint in Sierra Blanca (a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas). Drugs dogs became fixated with his vehicle and, after looking around, officials found 1/4 oz. of marijuana in the glove compartment. Furthermore, some chocolate truffles were also discovered, which contained less that 1/8 oz. of the drug. Bad news for geohot, who was supposed to give a talk at SXSW. Instead, he was turned over to the local authorities who put the hacker in the slammer. He was later released on bail for $1,500.
