He's Green, He's Mean And He's Out To Wreak Havoc On Your New iPad
March 16, 2012
From his humble origins on the pages of Marvel's superhero comics to his successful run on television with Lou Ferrigno, and up to his live-action silver screen debut with Eric Bana and its subsequent reboot with Edward Norton, the Incredible Hulk has had an interesting trans-media journey. And now, the green and mean wrecking machine is about to make the jump to another medium. The Hulk is set to tackle the iOS platform, and joining him this time around is none other than his own creator, comic book legend Stan Lee.
Following the launch late last year of The Amazing Spider-Man: An Origin Story, Stan Lee, in collaboration with the iOS developing studio of the Disney-owned Marvel Entertainment company, has just released Avengers Origins: Hulk. Like The Amazing Spider-Man: An Origin Story, Avengers Origins: Hulk is obviously, well, an origin story, and it's also in the form of a storybook app for children narrated by the grandfatherly voice of Stan Lee himself. The new app features animated artwork and interactive mini-activities, which kids and adults alike can enjoy as they discover or revisit the fateful transformation of Army scientist Dr. Bruce Banner into the green giant Hulk.
Avengers Origins: Hulk is, of course, part of the Avengers multimedia franchise, which also includes the characters of Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow and Captain America. It's a nice way for children to familiarize themselves with the Hulk character before they feast their eyes on "The Avengers," this coming summer's hotly anticipated blockbuster movie assembling the aforementioned superheroes. Avengers Origins: Hulk is now available in the App Store for your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, old or new, for $1.99. HULK SMASH!!!
