Let's Play The Hunger Games: Take A Look At These App Icons And See If You Don't Get Hungry

"Don't judge a book by its cover" is, for the most part, a wise saying to abide by. I have encountered a good many books that, had I judged them according to how their dust jackets or paperback covers looked, wouldn't have ended up between my hands and in my list of literary favorites. "Don't judge an app by its icon," on the other hand, doesn't seem to be as good a guide, does it? In a time when graphics and UI are more important than anything else in determining how we evaluate our experiences with most apps, a poorly designed app icon often signals the poor quality of the product it represents. Conversely, a great-looking icon augurs well for the app inside. What, then, would your knee-jerk reaction be if you saw any of the above app icons fashioned from food items while browsing the App Store? Mine would be to eat the app icon on hand. These enticing app icons are the culinary graphic creations of Netherlands-based designer Julian Burford. Created using Adobe Illustrator, these icons are said to be part of an upcoming and as yet undisclosed iPhone app. Featuring popular food apps such as Spam, Nutella, Oreo and Domino's Pizza, Burford's app icon series follows Apple's geometric guidelines and comes up looking mighty, not to mention meaty, fine. Not unlike a juicy apple, these app icons are quite delicious to behold, don't you think?
