New iPad And Apple TV Features Leads To Apple Updating Their Remote App

March 8, 2012
The Apple Remote app is a really great companion for your personal computer and Apple TV. Able to control music playback, movie playback, and even output source, the app is already quite capable. However, Remote v2.3 adds third generation iPad Retina display and iTunes Match support for even more awesomeness. Since the advantage of optimized graphics is obvious regarding Retina display support, we'll just move onto iTunes Match. For the most part, people think of streaming music or synchronizing images among iDevices using Photo Stream when it comes to iCloud features, though the service offers more than just that. Just like purchasing a song and adding it to your iTunes Match collection to be accessed via any of your iDevices or computers running iTunes, movies and television shows can also be shared. Purchased video content could already be synced across devices under iOS 5.0 and Apple TV software 4.3 or later, but Apple Remote v2.3 takes the convenience further. In this latest version, you can begin playback of iTunes Match content on your HDTV right from your iDevice. Remote is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 3.1.2 or later, and available in the App Store as a free download. [Image credit: Apple]
