New Word Game Is The Self-Proclaimed Messiah Of Abandoned Vowels Evrywhr
March 24, 2012
Remember when vowels were really indispensable? I raise the question now because these days it's not unusual to encounter such words as Tumblr and Trakr, words that get rid of helpless vowels with total abandon. Also, because my attention was caught recently by a new iOS game that seeks to "put vowels back where they belong." That game is called Word Cracker, with all vowels intact, thank you very much.
Word Cracker is, obviously, a word game. At its core, it's a game that puts your spelling skills to the test, daring you to supply the missing vowels in the given groups of letters. Word Cracker has two game modes, namely, V_W_LS and VWLS. The former mode aids you in figuring out which vowel goes where by providing blank spaces in between the consonants, while the latter mode puts all consonants side by side and therefore
offers a greater challenge.
The game lets you play on your own, that is, play against yourself by beating your own score. It also lets you go head to head with a friend on your iPhone or iPad, enabling you to solve a word for a certain duration and then challenge your opponent to solve the same word. Of course, the harder the word, the higher the points.
Wrd Crckr s nw avlbl n th pp Str fr $1.99. Sorry, let me try that again: Word Cracker is now available in the App Store for $1.99.
