Instagamer Combines Simple Card Match Games With Instagram’s Images
InstaGamer (Free) by Hidden Elephant is a card match game that uses the social networking site, Instagram, for images. Not only can you discover your favorite images by playing a game based on what’s hot, but you can “like” images and follow new Instagramers by adding the full features for only $0.99.
This is not an official Instagram app. It is simply a game that lets users play a game of card match by giving them access to the hundreds of millions of images that exist on the social networking site. You don’t have to have an account to play the game. The app generates images that are uploaded regularly from the 15 million people that already have Instagram accounts.
The free part of this game includes images that are most liked or featured images on Instagram. Users can also access certain themes of images by searching using tags. However, the tag search does not work very well. If you type in, say, “pandas” you may get one picture of a real panda and a few of stuffed animals and the rest might be of couples, because someone nicknamed their boyfriend “Panda.”
If you want to log into your account, it will cost an additional $0.99. You can play the card match game with images from your own uploads and from friends you follow and pictures you have “liked.” You can also “like” images that you find by playing the card match game, or follow an Instagram user that you discover while playing.
This is an interesting companion to Instagram. It is clever, but mostly useless. I really enjoyed discovering new images and seeing who was posting the most popular images. If you are a big fan of the social networking site, you will want to pay the additional $0.99 for personal account access. If you don’t care about finding images to “like” or users to follow, it is fun just for the card match game, and that part is free.
