The Sims Will Take Off Their Shoes So That You May Take A Stand

Food N' Me is doing its part in educating kids about childhood obesity with its Smash Your Food HD app. The newly launched Angry Birds Space is rewarding players with a special Golden Egg level upon posting a positive action on MTV's Draw Your Line website, which seeks to fight youth digital abuse. For its part, as one of the official partners of One Day Without Shoes, Electronic Arts will give you the option to strip your Sims of their shoes as you play the popular EA freemium game, The Sims FreePlay, on one special day. That special day is this coming April 10, the day of this year's One Day Without Shoes movement. One Day Without Shoes is an annual event organized by TOMS aimed at raising awareness about the importance of a child's having a good pair of shoes. According to TOMS, a shoe, clothing and eyewear company that donates a pair of new shoes to an indigent child for every pair of new shoes purchased by a customer, millions of children go about their daily lives without proper coverings for their feet. This pitiable state of theirs makes them susceptible to disease and injury. In my hometown in the Philippines alone, thousands of landfill-dwelling children are exposed to broken glass and debris every day. During the day of One Day Without Shoes, your barefooted Sims can still enjoy most of their regular activities and even throw a barefoot dance party. And as a token of appreciation for your participation in the event, you will get a complimentary virtual pair of TOMS' shoes for your Sims to wear later in the game. Could you last a day without shoes or any type of footwear? If you could, but you'd rather not, you could just let your trusty Sims go barefoot for a good cause.
