This Old Tractor Boasts A New Engine ... A New Physics Engine

March 27, 2012
I believe a history lesson is in order right now, given the background of the game I'm about to introduce. Don't worry, this won't take long… Between 1958 and 1961, what's known as the Great Leap Forward was put into effect by the People's Republic of China. During that period, farmers were particularly hard at work to sow their fields and harvest their grown crops. And that's about it. I told you it's going to be brief. It's because only to that extent does Tractor Hero for iPhone and iPad relate to that time in the history of China. Tractor Hero is a game where you have to travel in a tractor to collect the literal fruits of your character's labor. The game uses a simple two-finger control method, one for tilting the tractor and making it go forward with the other for making it go back. Like most games in the App Store today, Tractor Hero makes extensive of a physics engine. This much is noticeable as you go along the bumpy road and you see the tractor as well as the fruits and vegetables it so far contains react realistically. Watch the trailer for the game below. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Tractor Hero also drives at its Chinese roots in its use of hand-painted backgrounds inspired by the country's rustic landscapes. You can download the game in the App Store for $0.99.
