Inspired by volleyball, a sport typically perceived much more casually than others, Bump Record provides an addictive variation that allows anyone to enjoy the basics of the activity anytime and anywhere.
Bump Record was created by interactive designer Dan Madden with professional beach volleyball player Billy Allen. Madden and Allen had previously collaborated to create a volleyball entertainment company from 2007-2011 called The Kinda Good Plan. They created Bump Record as a way to help kids and their parents interact with the game of volleyball even when they weren't able to play.In Bump Record, your goal is to keep hitting, or "bumping," volleyballs without them hitting the ground, at least initially. To bump a volleyball, do an upward swipe just underneath it. As you would expect, the speed of your swipe determines how high the ball will go. Balls can temporarily disappear out of the top of the screen, although, the sides of your iDevice screen work like walls. Honestly, it reminds me a lot of playing Hacky Sack. Just like in volleyball, the next action in Bump Record is the "spike." As you bump balls, you'll notice they begin to warm up and change colors. After five hits, they'll become blazing hot. Once a ball has caught fire, spike it to the ground by performing a quick flick downward. If you happen to bump a flaming ball, you must start the process all over. So, what makes Bump Record challenging? While the initial few dozen bumps take place involve handling a single ball, further progression will result in multiple balls being introduced simultaneously. Succeeding further will move gameplay from indoors to the beach. where you'll encounter wind, rain, and even birds. Thankfully, it's three strikes before you're out. Bump Record is a universal app compatible with iPad, second generation iPad, third generation iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, 32GB and 64GB third generation iPod touch, fourth generation iPod touch and newer running iOS 3.2 or later.
