Heavy Duty Apps Adds Background Notifications And More To 5K Runner And 10K Runner
April 22, 2012
Heavy Duty Apps, creator of Battery Boost Magic and Sleep Pillow, has released a significant update to both of its popular runner training apps, 5K Runner and 10K Runner. Designated v3.0, the update adds native iPad support, background notifications, an additional voice, and more.
A long time coming, background notifications will open up new opportunities, allowing use of more than just the iPod app while exercising. While certainly relevant when using either of the apps on an iPhone, this new potential will likely be much more substantial when combined with the native iPad support.
Along with no longer requiring the pixelated iPad Compatibility Mode screen stretch, people utilizing treadmills can now use their iPad to read the news, watch a movie, etc without interrupting your workout instructions. In addition, the apps now list instructions in the Notifications Center, plus offer halfway marker and female voice options. As a reminder, settings can be found in the Learn tab.
Beyond the feature additions, Heavy Duty Apps has made a few improvements to already implemented capabilities. Those changes consist of resolving Facebook and Twitter posting issues, seamless tweeting through iOS 5's Twitter integration, and correcting app resume behavior.
5K Runner is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or later, and available in the App Store for $2.99. 10K Runner is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or later, and available in the App Store for $3.99.
