Klout Goes Mobile With New iPhone App

April 25, 2012
Klout has taken its influence-measuring algorithm to the iOS platform with the release of its official iPhone app today. For those who don’t know, Klout measures your influence on sites like Facebook, Linkedin, YouTube, Foursquare, Google +, and Twitter. Users are given a score between 0-100 that signifies their influence to drive action in social networking. The score is calculated on a daily basis. Klout has previously had a mobile website, but today’s release is the first step by the company into the mobile app space. To start, users can sign in with either their Facebook or Twitter profiles. Once signed in, you can view your Klout score, influential topics, and people who influence you online. The homescreen icon can be customized to show your Klout score, even when you are not using the app. There are also many options for push notification alerts, including when your score changes. The app is still a little basic, but according to TechCrunch, the company is planning to add more features in the future. The Klout app is designed for iPhone, and is free on the App Store. Do you actually care about your Klout score? While some people have criticized the proprietary way scores are determined, Klout has continued to take hold while social media’s influence has grown.
