McLean Makes Weather 2x A Universal App, Spreading The Elegance To The iPhone

A few days ago, we told you about a brand new weather app by McLean Mobile, Weather 2x. Originally designed to utilize the third generation iPad's stunning Retina display, this elegant app is now even more accessible with iPhone and iPod touch compatibility.
Featuring essential weather details and beautiful photographs depicting the current conditions, such as dark clouds with rain drops collecting on the screen or a sunny meadow, Weather 2x is intended to provide users with a quick, simple, and visually pleasing way to be informed about what's going on outdoors.
After launching the app, you'll be presented with the current temperature, current sky condition, and that dazzling photo. Available with a single tap, you can toggle the sky condition, such as “Cloudy” or “Light Rain,” to show daily accumulated precipitation, visibility, chance of future precipitation, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, and wind direction.
I’ve already mentioned the single tap gesture, but that’s only the beginning of the experience. When using Weather 2x, think of the weather photo as if it were a panel. Swipe your finger to the left to reveal the daily forecast breakdown and swipe to the right to open the locations gallery. To show the five day forecast, just double tap or swipe upward.
When you want to cover the daily breakdown and locations gallery sections, use one finger to grab the current weather conditions photo and drag it back into view. The week outlook can be hidden with another double tap or by using the same single sliding gesture as before to pull down on the half circle virtual grip tab at the base of the photo.
As you’ve probably noticed, Weather 2x doesn’t have a built-in clock like many other visually focused weather apps. Indeed, McLean has taken a different approach, leaving the status bar in view. Not only does this provide the current time, but it also offers access to your iPad’s battery level and network connection status.
Weather 2x is a universal app compatible with iPad, second generation iPad, third generation iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, 32GB and 64GB third generation iPod touch, fourth generation iPod touch and newer running iOS 5.0 or later, and available in the App Store for $0.99.
