Instavue Displays Instragram Photos On iPad
Instavue ($1.99) by TRNSFR turns your Instagram streams into an iPad-sized gallery.
While Instagram has gone through some changes, including being available for Android devices and being bought by Facebook for a billion dollars, yet one change it hasn’t experienced is an iPad version of the app.
Well, this isn’t that official version, but it certainly makes use of the real estate the iPad offers.
Sign into the app with your Instagram username and then you’ll see the photos from those you follow, photos that you have liked, as well as your own photo stream. Select any of the photos to see them in larger detail.
This view also provides details, such as who created it, any comment associated with it, and how many likes it received. While you’re there, you can either click the “like” or “comment” buttons to add your own thoughts. Seeing the pictures in even larger detail certainly gives them justice.
A search feature is missing, though the developers promise it will arrive soon. At the moment, you’re just limited to seeing whatever you’ve set up within Instagram. The refresh time is as fast as the shutter within the Instagram app (is it me, or does it seem to take the picture before you even hit the button?).
The app is a bit glitchy. I somehow managed to have one of my liked pictures appear large with the comments, while the gallery of other liked photos was superimposed on top of it. I also experience a crash when I tried to go further back in my following stream.
Instagram fans with iPads will definitely want to take advantage of this gorgeous app. The App Store site mentions that the launch sale price is $1.99. I don’t know if that price is going to change any time in the near future, so you may want to jump onboard soon.
