Rinth Island Conquers The Upper Forest With Its First Ever Update
April 11, 2012
Madcoaster turns out to be not the only Chillingo game that has been updated recently. (Then again, with the large number of games developed by Chillingo, it's nigh impossible to keep track of which ones have just been updated.) Rinth Island, which, like Madcoaster, was released by Chillingo late last month, has also gone under its first major set of changes.
The bulk of of Rinth Island's first ever update can be summed up in two words: new map. The previous, original version of the game had only two active maps that essentially make up its adventure, namely, West Landingbay and Landingport. A third map was teased as "coming soon" in that version, and now that map has materialized.
The new map is called Upper Forest, and it contains level after level of trees and caverns incorporated into the game's innovative hollow cylindrical, island-themed labyrinths. Upper Forest adds six new chapters to Rinth Island. Each chapter has five levels, and each level has four game modes. This amounts to 120 different instances of completing the map. So, go ahead and knock yourself out. And when you're finished journeying across Upper Forest and unlocking all 14 new achievements associated with it, watch out for the next map, Furnace Mountain, in an upcoming update.
As in the case of Madcoaster, two new themes have also been added to Rinth Island. They are the Crystal Chasm and Elder Forest themes, and they feature different art, music, and tiles. A couple of new puzzle pieces, Rockdop and Teleporter, have also made their way into the proceedings. Both themes and both puzzle pieces are included free of charge, but the other additional items, comprising three new costumes and seven new pets, are available via in-app purchase for $0.99 each. Also available for $0.99 each are the hints option, which shows you the solution for a puzzle and lets you look around it, and the unlock option, which lets you access all levels without having to play them progressively.
Designed for both iPhone and iPad, Rinth Island is available in the App Store for only — you guessed it — $0.99.
