See For Yourself: Say What You See For iPad Now Lets You See Retina iCanvases

April 6, 2012
Unlike the recent App Store chart toppers Angry Birds Space and Draw Something, only a small number of games garner enough popularity to get past three million or nine million downloads, or even just one million. Not Say What You See: The Collection, though. The puzzle game developed by The Big Ideas Corporation has been downloaded a million times since its launch in November 2010. In celebration of this milestone, Big Ideas has updated the game's iPad version, Say What You See: The Collection HD, to support the new iPad's Retina display. This update is in no way arbitrary, as high-resolution images are actually of great relevance to the game. Say What You See is a wide-ranging collection of rebus puzzles. Rebus puzzles, in case you're not familiar with them, are images containing clues that collectively refer to particular words or phrases. For example, in the screenshot below, a man appears to be traveling on a winged clock and beside him is his bride. Putting all these components together, you get "The Time Traveler's Wife." In Say What You See, rebus puzzles are grouped within hand-painted, themed scenes called iCanvases. Given that the game involves a collection of artwork, Retina graphics are indeed most welcome. Available for both iPhone and iPad, Say What You See offers more than 20 themed iCanvases, including Video Games, Sitcoms, Super Heroes, and Book 2 Film, my favorite iCanvas, from which "The Time Traveler's Wife" is taken. A new iCanvas called Action Movies has also been added to the collection. So, better brush up on your recall of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone movies. Like the other iCanvases, Action Movies is available via in-app purchase for $0.99. Note, however, that upon downloading the game, your first iCanvas is free of charge. You can download Say What You See: The Collection and Say What You See: The Collection HD in the App Store for free.
