Simplify Your Photography With VSCO CAM
April 27, 2012
One of the iPhone's key features is the stunning camera. There are apps, such as Camera+ and the hugely popular Instagram, that take full advantage of this. Some feel, however, that Camera+ is over complicated and Instagram caters to the lower common denominator.
VSCO CAM, by Visual Supply Company, aims to bring some simplicity and elegance back to your iPhoneography. The app is an easy to use camera app with some minimal, but impressive processing options. The developer has released a great video detailing the app:

If you cannot see the embedded video above, it is also available by clicking here.
VSCO CAM includes a beautiful interface and a streamlined method of moving from snapping an image to editing it. Once your masterpiece is complete, it is then a breeze to share the image to Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
The app contains 10 unique filters. These include three black and white filters and seven color filters. The developer states:
The app sets itself apart from the overly processed filters seen in many of today's apps, as well as utilizing uncompressed jpgs to produce the highest image quality possible. In addition, a series of simple editing tools including Fade, Grain, Contrast, Exposure, FIll Light and more, enable photographers to edit their images with speed and precision.According to the company's website, which is also gorgeous by the way, you will soon be able to share your creations to your personal VSCO site. If this personal site looks half as good as the main site, I'm all for that. The company behind this app started by creating some excellent plugins for Aperture and Lightroom. The expertise gained from creating these plugins has had a clear impact on their debut iPhone app. It has impressed me a lot, and is proudly displayed on my home screen as my default photography app. The VSCO CAM app is available now for just $0.99 as an introductory offer. If you are after a simple, yet powerful and beautifully designed photography app for your iPhone, you can't go wrong with this app.
