Twitter Makes Changes To Discover Tab In iPhone App Update

April 26, 2012
Twitter updated its iPhone app today with changes to the discover tab, search options, and notifications. The most significant modification in version 4.2 of the app comes in the poorly received discover tab. When using the tab, users can now see an activity stream of updates that show which tweets are favorited or retweeted by people you follow. Users can also see who their followers follow and add to lists. The stories feature has also been redesigned in the discover tab. Users can tap any story once to see tweets about a news article or trend. On the search side, you can see different spellings and related terms for queries. When iPhone users tap the search box, a list of recent search terms will be displayed. You can also go directly to someone's profile while searching in the connect tab. Notification settings have been improved as well. Users can now be alerted when their tweets have been retweeted or favorited and when they have a new follower. Twitter is a universal app for both the iPhone and iPad and is available for free on the App Store. The iPad version of the client apparently didn't receive any of the UI changes. Will this update make you take a second look at Twitter's app? While I think it's a step in the right direction, I can't go back from the fabulousness that is TweetBot.
