Things have been getting a little crazy over here at AppAdvice. There are many changes coming to the site — and its direction as a whole — and we wanted to keep you all in the loop.
We have obviously been huge proponents of Apple over the years. It’s the core of what we do: report on Apple products, news, and apps. But some of you have been accusing us of being too fanboy-esque. We decided, despite being an Apple blog, maybe we were being huge fanboys. We thought maybe we should expand our horizons.
So, over the past few months, we got our hands on some Android devices. That’s right: We decided to give Android a try, and we remained as objective as possible throughout the entire testing process.
Here’s the kicker: We were so blown away by everything we were able to do with Android, and the sheer size of the devices themselves, that we realized maybe we were being too close-minded.
There are so many more settings to mess around with and customize on an Android device. And one word: widgets. Have you seen these things? We never want to be widget-less again. It’s like we were wandering around like one of those blind mice — the one button Apple kind.
So, we are happy to announce that over the next week or so we will be transitioning the site over to be Android-focused.
This also includes a name change.
Drum roll please …
AndroidAdvice! I know. Creative, huh? Well, we wanted to keep our same logo, but tweak it just a tad. So, here it is (courtesy of our very own Stella):
What do you think? We love our new robot friend. Beep boop.
Now, I realize this may come as a shock to all of you, but don’t worry: We’ll ease you guys into it and won’t completely cut you off from Apple and iOS. Not right away at least. But the material we post here will slowly start to phase out iOS, and be heavily Android-related. We still like Apple products, but we’re not as wowed by them as we are these Droids.
To fully understand why we are making this colossal change, and how it will happen (including important changes to our apps), please watch our video explanation.
Thanks for all of your support throughout the years! We hope to better serve you going forward as we focus on the world’s most popular mobile operating system.– The AndroidAdvice Team P.S. If you're still upset over this, please click here. This was only an April Fools' Day prank.
