You Heard The Man! Go And Embark On The Quest For The Holy Grail

April 2, 2012
Independent developer Guerilla Tea was given the honor last month of being a runner-up in the games category of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' New Talent Awards. Guerilla Tea's nominated game is The Quest, a 3D puzzle game for iPhone. In the case of The Quest, 3D is actually a gameplay requirement rather than just a graphics enhancement. That's because The Quest is a new treatment on the 3D mechanical puzzle known all over the world as Rubik's Cube. The Quest is a knight's tale told in a series of puzzles. It follows the puzzling adventures of Steve, a smallish knight who was commanded by the voice of God to search for His favorite mug, also known as the Holy Grail. To make Steve's job a tad easier, God gave him the power to alter the configuration of his surroundings. And thus you have the puzzles inspired by the form and mechanism of Rubik's Cube. Watch how the classic physical puzzle is implemented in The Quest in the video below. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. In each level, you'll be guiding Steve as he navigates towards the magic teabag in a 3D world shaped like Rubik's Cube. The individual tiles in Steve's peculiar world are either land tiles or water tiles, with the occasional boat tile thrown in to serve as Steve's way of transitioning between land and water. Yes, just like the son of God, Steve has the power to walk on water as well as on land. It's just odd that he needs a boat to make the switch. Not to be confused with Chillingo's mystery game of the same name, The Quest is now available in the App Store for $0.99.
