As Part Of Overall Redesign, Bit.ly Rolls Out iPhone App

May 29, 2012
The URL shortening service bit.ly has introduced its new iOS app today. The bitly app brings the simplicity of the online service to your iPhone. To begin, you can sign up for a bit.ly account with your email account or through social networks Facebook and Twitter. After you sign in, you save shortened links as easy-to-share bitmarks. You can also quickly search your bitmarks and instantly view your saved pages anywhere, anytime with the handy offline reader mode. To make sharing your links easy, the app allows one-step sharing to Twitter, Facebook, or email. If you like to share multiple links, you can organize your bitmarks into bundles to keep track of link groups. Also, for extra-added privacy, users can chose whether each bitmark is private or if it appears on a public timeline. The bitly app is designed for the iPhone and iPod touch, but does work with the iPad. The app is available to download free in the App Store. The app is part of a new, overall look from bit.ly rolled out today on its website that features user profiles and enhanced search functionality. I’m really pleased to finally see the bit.ly app for iOS devices. The service is my favorite url shortener, and I’m glad it offers the same ease-of-use as the website.
