Does Mega Run - Redford's Adventure Have The Makings Of A Runaway Hit?
May 29, 2012
Get Set Games is all set for the worldwide release of Mega Run, the spiritual sequel to its App Store hit Mega Jump.
Subtitled "Redford's Adventure," Mega Run sees the return of the adorable characters of Mega Jump. Of course, there's Redford, who, this time, witnesses the kidnapping of his brother and sister by a mysterious monster. As shown in the wonderfully animated trailer for the game below, Redford and his siblings are happily going about their usual mega jumping ways when, out of nowhere, his brother and sister are grabbed by a giant pair of arms. Now, it's up to Redford to rescue them. And there's only one thing he must do: run.

Well, that's not entirely accurate, as Redford must also do a little jumping from platform to platform every now and then. Mega Run is actually a platformer with nods to its classic predecessors like Super Mario Brothers and Sonic the Hedgehog. The game spans four distinct worlds, each divided into 16 stages, through which you must help Redford with just the touch of your finger. As in Mega Jump, there are coins and gems galore to collect and cool power-ups to pick up.
Mega Run had a soft launch last week in the Canadian App Store, where it was eventually featured by Apple as an Editors' Choice. Thanks in no small part to that prominent spot, it has jumped to No. 1 and No. 3 in the iPad and iPhone charts, respectively. Mega Run is set to be launched globally tomorrow, May 30. Look for our review of the game here on AppAdvice shortly after it goes live in the U.S. App Store and elsewhere.
