Is The Element Of Action Missing In Action In Gameloft's Men In Black 3?
May 4, 2012
Gameloft, in partnership with Sony Pictures, is set to publish a mobile game based on the upcoming blockbuster "threequel" to the original "Men in Black" movie. "Men in Black 3" is scheduled to be released on May 25 and, ahead of the movie's premiere, Gameloft has posted a video teasing the tie-in.
The teaser for Gameloft's Men in Black 3, embedded below, contains little more than a series of glimpses of some in-game footage. The game appears to be a top-down isometric time and resource management game, most likely inspired by the movie's time travel element. But it's a far cry from what you might expect from a game based on an action adventure movie. A shooter, a platformer, or even an endless runner seem to be a better fit. Interestingly, the voice-over in the video claims that the footage is "not the official 'Men in Black 3' game by Gameloft." Rather, it's said to be "just an experiment." Of course, this gimmick falls in line with the scenes of memory manipulation in the "Men in Black" movies, famously involving the use of a Neuralyzer.

According to Gameloft's initial game description, as a player of Men in Black 3, you will "embody a young agent, who, with the help of Agent O, Agent K, and Frank, will fight against a new threat to humanity led by the vile Radiant."
Gameloft's Men in Black 3 is coming to the App Store as a freemium title on May 17, just over a week before the movie hits theaters. Are you looking forward to playing the game, or are you wishing you had a Neuralyzer to erase what you've just seen from your memory?
